What is EcoWALK the talk about? |

"Eco WALK the talk" is a Global Green Online Community with an Asian pulse, but really for everyone in the world to join in. It is a space for you to share your dreams for the planet, AND take real steps and actions to help save the environment, which you can register as an EcoWALK step. You can make a wish that will help you fulfil your aspirations for the world, share your green tips and ideas with others in your own EcoWALKer Journal, and place a free ad in the Green Product/Service Directory. Every step you take, however big or small, makes a difference and we make it count for the planet. |

For every EcoWalk step that you register on this website, we want to make a real difference. We are looking for sponsors so that $1 may be donated to the Borneo Orangutan Society towards the Samboja Lestari Programme . This is a programme that regenerates rainforests in Indonesia, rehabilitates orangutans while supporting livelihoods for local communities. We are not affiliated to Borneo Orangutan Society in any way, but wish to contribute to a well established international programme.

Will these steps really save the environment? Yes, our environmental impact is a reflection of millions and billions of small everyday decisions we make. We can create positive change by changing those decisions and taking action to help conserve our precious natural resources, and by creating a smaller footprint on our planet. It is important to create momentum and awareness, celebrate our actions, provide inspiration for others, so that collectively all our small and big steps lead to a better future for the planet. When faced with an environmental crisis of the kind we are facing today, we do everything we can, leave no stone unturned in our efforts to create a better world. |

For example, if you decide to switch off the mains after you use an electrical equipment, record that as a step in Take a step now (Go to Main menu bar: EcoWALK steps: Take a step now) It’s advised that you Search for the particular category, in this case ENERGY, if someone else has taken this step. If so, all you have to do is follow this step by clicking “Join this EcoWALK step” and this counts as you new step. If someone hasn’t created this step, you can Create a New Step title, such as: Switch off mains after using electrical equipment. And this counts as 1 step. Everyone’s steps are counted and shown on the header.
|
| |
We would encourage you to record a NEW step i.e. something that you've done say in the last one year, or something you intend to take in the next 30 days.
|
| |
The NEW step can be a single action step(e.g. writing a letter to the Editor of a local newspaper) or an ongoing step (e.g. reducing use of chemical cleaners at home)
|
| 7. |
How many NEW steps can I take? |
| |
As many as you wish, the more the merrier for the planet! The important thing is integrity, that you do practise what you have outlined as a step.
|
| 8. |
Why count the steps if they are not all equal? |
| |
We recognise that all steps are not equal on their impact on the planet. However, often enough, taking one step itself can be a huge effort for some. The important thing is that we get started, and build up momentum and keep at it. Small steps when collectively done can have a huge impact. Small steps can also snowball into the kind of gigantic steps needed to save the planet from environmental crisis. We can learn from bigger steps taken by some fellow EcoWALkers and Featured EcoWALKers and be inspired to follow their footsteps |
