Interesting ways to recycle everyday stuff

Here are a few very useful videos to recycle some of our everyday stuff, such as plastic bottles, plastic bags, old jeans and newspapers. Some of these ideas can be used for school or holiday projects with children. Have fun!

VIDEO 1 : This shows 8 simple and interesting ways to recycle a 2 litre water bottle:

I’d only like to add that I’d prefer a non-toxic weed killer for the weeds.

VIDEO 2 : How to make a messenger bag with plastic.

I found this video really interesting as it shows a neat way to convert plastic bags into new material that we can work with in a number of ways, using our imagination. One comment though. There was no point in buying another bag just for the buckles. The idea is to recycle, not to buy more in order to recycle!

VIDEO 3: Recycle your old jeans to Make A Cool Laptop Bag

Very cool!  My daughter used the same idea to make a file folder using old jeans. That got a few looks of admiration at school!  Here’s a set of instructions.  For some more ways to recycle old jeans, here’s an interesting piece.

Video 4: This is a really easy way to make recycled paper using old newspaper.

Of course, Paper Mache is also a very common and simple way to recycle newspaper. A set of interesting videos can be found here with instructions on how to make a paper mache bowl.
